Decisions were taken by the Council of Ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus involving passengers entering the country. As a result of these decisions, according to the color codes in the table determined by the country, tourists and business travelers will be able to enter the TRNC. So, has the touristic travel ban from Turkey to the TRNC been lifted? For healthy and safe journeys, guests who will travel from Turkey to the TRNC will be subject to which rules? What Are the Rules for Entering the TRNC During the Pandemic Period?

With the spread of the vaccine all over the world, countries have also begun to make some changes to their travel rules. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, one of the countries with the opportunity to travel abroad with an ID card, has also begun to take steps to normalize.

 

Is It Free to Enter the TRNC From Turkey?

In line with these steps, Turkish citizens who will enter the TRNC have been required to have a new type of ID card as of June 30.

According to the table of restrictions published by the TRNC Ministry of Health, as well as the regulation of a new type of ID card Turkey is in the orange category. According to this, if those who will enter the TRNC from Turkey are vaccinated, a negative PCR result received within the last 72 hours before the trip is requested, and they have the right to enter without quarantine. For people who do not have the vaccine to enter the TRNC, there is a negative PCR result received within the last 72 hours before the trip and a 5-day quarantine application.

Important note: Those who have 2 doses of the vaccine at the entrance to Turkey and people who have had the disease can enter the country without a PCR test.

Children under the age of 18 will be able to enter the country according to the specified PCR test rules, according to the category of country in which they came with their vaccinated parents.

Passengers will be evaluated according to the country in the highest risk group among the countries in which they have set foot / been in the last 14 days.

What Are the Rules for Non-Quarantine Entry to the TRNC?

  • Turkish guests must get the HES code before the trip.
  • While Turkish citizens who have 2 doses of the vaccine can enter the TRNC, Turkish citizens who have had the disease must also submit a negative PCR result that they received in the last 72 hours before the trip.
  • Non-quarantine entry procedures are performed upon landing at Ercan airport. 2. PCR test is performed for free to passengers and the passenger is hosted in a room until the Test result is obtained.

What do the colors and entry criteria in the table published by the TRNC mean?

Dark Red

  • Persons with a history of travel to these countries in the last 14 days are prohibited from entering the country.
  • TRNC citizens will be able to enter the country with a negative PCR test result received within the last 72 hours and a quarantine requirement of 14 days when entering the island.

Red

  • Passengers who have been vaccinated and had the disease;
  • Negative PCR result for the last 72 hours before the trip.

5 Days Quarantine

Note: Vaccinated persons from the United Kingdom will be able to enter the country without quarantine until 29.07.2021. A reassessment will be made on the specified date.

Unvaccinated passengers;

  • Negative PCR result for the last 72 hours before the trip.
  • 7 days quarantine

Orange

Vaccinated Passengers: They will be eligible for non-quarantine entry with the presentation of a negative PCR test result received within the last 72 hours before the trip.

Unvaccinated Passengers: They will be quarantined for 5 days with the presentation of a negative PCR test result received within the last 72 hours before the trip.

Yellow

Vaccinated Passengers: They will be eligible for non-quarantine entry with the presentation of a negative PCR test result received within the last 72 hours before the trip.

Unvaccinated Passengers: They will be quarantined for 7 days with the presentation of a negative PCR test result received within the last 72 hours before the trip

Green

Passengers who have been vaccinated and had the disease: No restrictions.

Unvaccinated Passengers: Quarantine is not applied to passengers from green category countries who submit negative PCR test results received in the last 72 hours before the trip.

Gray

Regardless of whether you are vaccinated, you can enter the country, with a negative PCR result of the last 72 hours and a quarantine requirement of 14 days before the trip.

General Rules Applied for Entry to the TRNC

VACCINATED PERSON: Completed the vaccination program. 14 days after the last dose to 6 months (02.08.2021).

  • SINOVAC: 2 DOSES
  • BIONTECH: 2 DOSES
  • SINOPHARM: 2 DOSES
  • COMIRNATY (Pfizer/Biontech): 2 DOSES
  • VAXZEVRIA (Astrazeneca/Oxford): 2 DOSES
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen / Johnson and Johnson: 1 DOSE
  • SPUTNIK V: 2 DOSES
  • MODERNA: 2 DOSES

* People will be treated as vaccinated if they have two doses of the above-mentioned vaccines with a different vaccine.

  •  If people who have had Covid-19 disease and have been over 6 months have 1 dose of RAPEL vaccine, they will be evaluated as a vaccinated person.
  • A person who has had the disease: Submit a positive PCR test result between 30-180 days before travel. These people will be evaluated within the scope of the vaccinated person.
  • Children under the age of 18 will be able to enter the country in accordance with the specified PCR test rules (children over the age of 6), according to the category of country in which they came with their parents who were vaccinated and had the disease in the above definition.
  • Passengers will be evaluated according to the country in the highest risk group among the countries in which they have set foot/ been there in the last 10 days.
  • Due to the spread of the delta variant in all countries, COVID-19 tests will be applied at all entry doors, regardless of whether they are vaccinated, for people who will come to our country. Persons from Green countries will be exempt from this application.
  • Countries With Delta Variant

The "DELTA" Variant has been evaluated by WHO as “Variant of Concern” (VOC)”. These variants are defined as;

  • Variants that may have increased contagion or adversely affect COVID-19 epidemiology
  • Variants that may have increased pathogenic characteristics or may lead to changes in the clinical picture, or
  • Variants that reduce the effectiveness of public health measures or may reduce the effectiveness of existing diagnostic tests, vaccines or drugs.
