Visa and Passport Details for Travelers to Europe
European countries are among the priority locations, with their rich culture, historical and natural beauties, nightlife, and tastes appealing to gourmet buds, for tourists and travelers who want to go abroad. Tickets purchased on the internet at an affordable price, research on the country that you will go, books read, a backpack and a few clothes... However, going abroad is not as easy as imagined because of the visa procedure. In 1990, as a result of the agreement on the free movement and residence that was signed between 22 European Union member countries and 4 EFTA member countries, when people wishing to go to European countries, they must get a Schengen Visa, also known as a European visa. For this reason, the visa process for travelers who plan to go to Europe is full of many steps and is a tiring process.
Which Visas Are Needed When Traveling To Europe?
With the European visa, you will get to travel to one of the European countries with different features depending on the embassy or consulate of the country where the visa is requested. Visas are divided into 3 groups by type:
Uniform Visas (USV)
It represents the permission to go through other countries or accommodation for one of the countries in the Schengen region within a period of six months, from the date of entry up to a maximum of 90 days. This visa covers category A and C.
Category A refers to the ‘Airport Transit Visa’, which allows traveling through Schengen countries without entering them. Even if the country you are traveling is not a European country, anyone traveling through a European country should get this visa.
Category C means "Short Term Visa", which allows the holder to reside in a Schengen member European country for a period of time depending on the validity of the visa. This visa is also called "Tourist Visa". Depending on the country that issued the visa, it is given as a single entry, double entry or multiple entry visas.
Visas with Limited Territorial Validity (LTV)
It permits a travel only to the Schengen country that issues the visa or to the Schengen countries specified in the visa application. Visa holders cannot pass through to other European country/countries and cannot enter that country.
National Visas
National visas classified as category D are issued to persons who will study, work or permanently stay in one of the Schengen countries. This type of visa can be single entry or multiple entries. If the visa is issued with multiple entries, it covers travel and stay in all European countries.
The visa you receive from any European country is valid in all other European countries due to the free movement agreement. However, you need to pay attention to whether the visa you have received is double or multiple entries and the duration of the visa. With double-entry and multiple-entry visas, you can enter multiple countries at different times in the Schengen region. In other words, once you realize the difficult visa procedure for a European country, you can easily travel to other countries without any problems.
What are European Visa Fees?
Every person applying for a European visa has a mandatory visa fee, which is not refundable if the visa is refused. This fee;
-If the visa is taken as a Transit Visa from the airport and the Schengen Short-Term Visa (less than 90 days) is 60 Euro,
-If the visa is taken for long-term (over 90 days) payment is 99 Euros. No visa fee is required for children between 0-12 years.
The visa procedure for European countries is only available for Ordinary Passport (Maroon) holders. This means that if you have a Diplomatic, Service (Gray) or Special (Green) Passport, you can travel to any European country without a visa, only if you do not exceed 90 days within 180 days. However, there is no such exception for tuition fees. All Turkish citizens who want to leave the country have to pay a fee of 50 TL.
